Birth Doula

What is a Doula?

Doula means "a woman who serves" in Greek

Birth Doula

A birth doula is someone who serves the mother and father in pregnancy, labor, delivery and early postpartum. The doula provides emotional and physical support as well as giving informational resources so that the parents can make informed decisions for themselves and baby.

Studies have shown that mothers who have continuous support during labor may have benefits such as:

-Faster labor

-Reduced C-section rate

-A more positive view of their birth experience

-Healthier babies and less complications

-And more!

Postpartum Doula

A postpartum doula is someone who serves the family by coming into their home and helping in various ways. The transitions with a newborn can be quite difficult for the entire family and extra hands around the home are often much appreciated. Here are several ways a doula can help:

-Caring for older children

-Overnight help with the newborn

-Helping with the newborn so parents can sleep, shower, etc.

-Emotional support

-Help siblings and dad adjust

-Provide resources

-And more!

About Me

About Me

My husband and I have lived in Fall Creek since 2020, but we both have lived in the Eau Claire area our whole lives. l started working as a nanny in 2017 and loved working with children and their families. In early 2021 I began learning more about midwifery and found out what a doula was. Being a doula consists of supporting others and knowing all things birth related… this was definitely up my alley! In November of that year I got trained through DONA to be a birth doula. Since getting trained as a doula, I have been honored to attend countless births and have spend many hours supporting families postpartum. In August 2023 my husband and I welcomed our son into our family through a beautiful home birth with our own doula by our side. When I thought I may end up quitting doula work after we started our own family, I was driven even more so to continue to support families in this special time.

In my free time I love gardening, taking walks, baking and cooking, and learning about everything birth related. Our little family loves spending time with others and you can often find us with our church family, at a family game night or catching up with friends. Although being a doula is one of the most rewarding, beautiful things I’ve ever gotten to do, being a wife and mom are my favorite hats to wear.

I support women and their families throughout the Chippewa Valley. My hope is that every mom and dad will feel empowered, encouraged and supported to make the best labor and birth decisions for their family. It is also my joy to give dad tools along the way to encourage and support the mama throughout this beautiful process! My goal is to serve families in the best way I can to meet their needs and desires and ultimately to glorify God through this beautiful process!
